Well, in 2016 my father Ray passed away, was one of the saddest times of my life. But what I realised in the years since he has left us is that my mum is still here and alone.

My mum and Dad had a lot of joint relationships and friendships that they had forged over their decades of being happy and social, but the years since dads passing time just seems to tick by and the relationships just seem to fade away with Dad’s memory.

Which I think is sad, at the time of his passing the messages to my mum were heartfelt cause it was an emotional time for all, but years can go by without even contact now. Plus, all the friends and family that attended surely even had photos of Dad with his mates that never have been shared with Mum or us as the family.

It seems a shame to just stop all communication, this is where the idea of Capturfy came to me. Thinking about mum, and her sitting around thinking about dad and reflecting on the memories.

Thought how good it would be to capture all the condolence text messages, photos of him with his mates, or even capture video condolence messages that she could reflect on for years to come.

It was a light bulb moment that’s for sure, plus what about the legacy part, where on the anniversary of Dads death we could touch base with all the people that attended the funeral and they can interact with mum and us the family, see photos of dad and reflect on the times they had with him.

So, one of the features that was in the platform is to calendar enter the date of passing then every 12 x months communication will go out to all that were involved with the funeral and ask them to reflect on his memory, maybe even communicate with mum.

This truly is to keep his memory alive and the forged relationships alive as well. So that’s how it was born, so I was committed to build a platform to help all the families or friends that are grieving keep and maintain the communication, memories and messages for years to come.
